Day 8 of Nanowrimo

Word Count – 8700

Status – Depressed

Plan – I can’t seem to keep up with the words… On the story front everything is moving along swimmingly but it isn’t flowing like I want it to. Still I am not giving up. I’m uncertain whether I will meet to 50k words by the end of the month but I am going to try.

In the story Ash is having a flashback to her childhood. It isn’t a happy scene…

  1. Try free writing. It’s a rough draft anyways, just write / type / dictate, however you do it. Just ramble on about the story. Maybe its a part of the story your working on now, maybe its later on. Good Luck and don’t loose hope. You can do it.

    1. I am trying. It is odd… Like I am writing through molasses. If it were just me and the story I would wait and let it start to flow naturally but I can feel myself tighten up because of the word count issue…

      1. It is still the beginning of the month. There is time.

If need be, give it a few days, you may find the words come to you in a flood later in the month, and you will not be able to get the words down on paper fast enough. Then you will surpass your word count issues in force, and all will better.

TRY ( yes I know easier said than done. šŸ™‚ ) not to stress over it. If you need to walk away for a day, do it.

      2. Thanks. I might – I feel I need to think about where the story is going. And as you say it is still the beginning of the month. šŸ™‚

  2. This time two years ago Mr Snail had managed about 300 words… but he still hit the target by the end, so don’t be downhearted! Remember the daily count is an average required; that means sometimes you write fewer words and sometimes you write more.

      1. Writers can be stressful – it is why I was moved into the workshop/shed. If the lights are on and I am hunched over the laptop everyone gives me a wide birth – can’t think why. šŸ™‚
